Any idea what you see at the picture? Yes, of course it’s a shoe. This is the skyscraper sandal from Romenian fashion designer Mihai Albu. Did Alexander McQueen shocked Paris with a 10 inch high heel, Mihai Albu adds another 2 inches (5 cm). It’s a construction of three black wedge sandals. It blends high-tech architecture with design and only comes in small sizes. The price is also in the skyscraper range: about € 1200!
Do you have any idea what this is? Well, as this is a shoe blog, you probably have guessed this is a shoe. You’ve got it partly right.
In my opinion this is not a shoe. There is missing an essential part of this wannabe shoe: the shank. Besides that, If you really think this is a shoe, it would be a cheap stripper shoe. Well, this Bridget Wedge is not that cheap: $ 179.
I’m wondering if anyone has ever tried to walk on these. It doesn’t look very comfortable.
This looks like a shoe which is designed by someone who have the simple principle in mind: Bigger is better. With it’s mega platform of 2¼ (5.5 cm) this a monster (in a bad way). The addition of the chains around the heel gives extra attention to the platform. That makes it even more worse. I’m unable to find a tiny little piece of feminity in this shoe. Not suitable for a fashionata in my opinion.
I know, it’s not a season shoe. But I like it so much, I had to write something about this shoe. Betsy Johnson designed a sandal with a cut-out 3½ inch (9 cm) wedge heel. The black leather straps are dectorated with a large polka-dot bow. Most surprising detail is at the bottom of the shoe. Betsy added to the typical pink sole a wink.
